Macramé was one of the projects that helped me get back into crafting when I became a stay at home mom. I started with a small kit and began learning the different knots and designs. Macramé is actually a fairly easy fiber art to begin with as opposed to maybe knit or crochet. It's relatively easy to get started and you only need a few items.

This Macramé cord on Amazon is a pretty good deal to get started with. You get A LOT of cord so you can kind of experiment with different things. They also have a few colors to choose from. I have also purchase cord on Etsy.

If you want to experiment with beads and wooden rings you can pick up THIS SET which gives you some more options!

If you're looking for an all in one kit I have some of these available in my Etsy shop. I currently have a Wine/Bottle Holder and a basic Plant Hanger. Click HERE to visit my shop.

The easiest and quickest way to get started is to purchase a kit above. It includes cord cut to the correct length, a written pattern and a hook to hang the completed piece. The plant hanger will have a wooden ring as well.

Do you already have Macramé cord? You can purchase just the pattern HERE

There are 2 basic knots that I use in my Macramé and I believe they are the easiest way to get started. There is a Half-Square Knot and a Square Knot. HERE you can see a video of the Half-Square Knot. The square knot is simply the same process but beginning with the cord on the right side instead of the left to complete the knot.

So there you go! A quick simple guide to get you started. Once you get some of the basic concepts down, other Macramé projects wont feel so intimidating. Happy Crafting!
